36 persons lost their lives as a result of the violence, including 18 on the election day. There were numerous instances of attacks on election officials as well as looting of ballot boxes and ballot paper destruction. The Calcutta High Court ordered the deployment of central forces at every voting location since the violence was so pervasive.
Several political parties and civil society organizations condemned the violence. While the BJP accused the TMC of resorting to violence to crush the opposition, the TMC claimed that the BJP was responsible for the violence. The State Election Commission (SEC) also faced criticism for failing to contain the violence.
The West Bengal Panchayat Election 2023:
The West Bengal Panchayat Election 2023 was held in three phases on 31 May, 7 June and 14 June. The results were declared on 12 July. 1,767 seats. Its nearest rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 8,239 seats and is leading in 447 seats. The Left Front won 2,468 seats, of which the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) alone won 2,409. The Congress won 2,022 seats and is leading on 139.
The election was marred by violence and rigging. At least 37 people were killed in the violence and there were widespread allegations of ballot stuffing and intimidation. The State Election Commission (SEC) had to deploy central forces to control the violence.
Mamta Banerjee is expected to benefit greatly from TMC's victory before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. TMC was accused of rigging the election, but BJP refused to accept the results. Regarding the violence in this election, some BJP workers said, 'Ms. Mamata Banerjee is playing a dangerous game of Ballot Boxes Heist in West Bengal.' The party has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court to declare the results invalid.
Violance & Open Killing In West Bengal:
Mamta Banerjee's party TMC has won 4 times seats than BJP in Bengal Panchayat elections. Till the time of writing the news, TMC has made a strong hold on 28,985 seats. And the BJP won 7,762 seats, but the BJP has alleged that the election results have been manipulated. On this victory of TMC, Mamata Banerjee's supporter says that "Mamata has again become the sarpanch of Bengal".
But this 2023 West Bengal Panchayati election has also brought violence with it. Because somewhere some people are firing on people in broad daylight, and somewhere people have lost their lives in this violence. Official reports are telling that 37 people or more have lost their lives in this election violence. Because on July 6, a BJP worker's husband was murdered in Birbhum West Bengal, which is said to be the 17th murder.

Democracy has been completely murdered in the Panchayanti elections of West Bengal. Because the constitution of India gives people the right to vote freely. But in West Bengal it is completely opposite because during elections some people ran away with the ballot box and some people set fire to the ballot box and the office itself. Regarding the bombing incident in West Bengal, BJP activist Nisith Parmanik said "As if killing of BJP workers, looting of ballot boxes, destruction of ballot papers was not enough for TMC sponsored extremists, on the counting day, they are now bombing a counting center in Diamond Harbour, #West Bengal."
